Sargon Nano, an Uber driver in the Chicago, IL, area, has been charged with one felony count of criminal sexual abuse and a misdemeanor count of battery stemming from an incident that occurred on September 1, 2018. According to prosecutors, Nano has a long history of acting, “sexually inappropriate”, with passengers. Nano turned himself in on Wednesday, September 11 2019, and was taken into custody.
According to prosecutors, the 29-year-old victim was out with her sister when they requested a ride through the Uber app at around 11:30 p.m. on September 1, 2018.
After dropping off the woman’s sister at her apartment, Nano reportedly headed towards the 29-year-old woman’s home on the West Side. The woman reported that during this part of the ride, she became confused, as Nano started asking her for directions to her home.
According to prosecutors, Nano told her he shut off the app told her he would give her the rest of the ride for free. He then allegedly pulled his car over, insisting that the woman sit in the front passenger seat. Nano told the woman that he would not continue driving her unless she did so. So that she could get home, the woman got into the front passenger seat. At this point, Nano allegedly began trying to hold her hand while he was driving. Prosecutors say that he then pulled over again, this time, grabbing her arm, kissing her, and fondling her.
The woman demanded that Nano stop and was able to eventually convinced him to stop driving. He then pulled over and kissed her again. He also allegedly placed the woman’s hand on his crotch. She told him to stop once more. Nano then took the woman’s phone, added his contact information, and proceeded to text himself. As soon as the woman recognized her neighborhood, she got our of the vehicle and walked home.
