On Tuesday, August 18, 2020, Mohammad Rahman, a Lyft driver in Orange County, was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a passenger while she was sleeping. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Bureau, the alleged incident occurred on June 12, when an adult female reported that she had been sexually assaulted earlier in the morning by a Lyft driver.
According to authorities, the woman had hired Mr. Rahman to drive her from a residence in Orange County to a residence in Santa Clarita.
“The victim told investigators that she entered the rear seat of the suspect’s vehicle and had fallen asleep during the drive to Santa Clarita,” Sgt. Brian Hudson of the LA County Sheriff’s Department said. “When they arrived in Santa Clarita, the victim woke up to the suspect sexually assaulting her.”
Mohammad Rahman was located in Fullerton, where he is a resident, and arrested by Sheriff’s Department detectives. Arrest records show Rahman was booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and is currently being held on $100,000 bail. According to Sgt. Hudson the investigation is on-going.
